On September 7, 2025, Sardarabad Daily celebrates fifty years of uninterrupted work. Half a century in which this community medium embraced an unshakable commitment: to inform truthfully, to reflect the life of Armenian institutions in Argentina and South America, and to keep alive the ties with our Motherland.
Sardarabad was born thanks to the vision and effort of great men. Figures such as national benefactor Alex Manoogian, Misak Haiguentz, Nahabet Nahabetian, Daniel Youssefian, Barkev Dergarabetian, Haig Shahinian, Armando Balassanian, Avedis Barsamian, Avedis Nalbandian, among others, made its birth and continuity possible.
Over these five decades, the leadership of the paper was in the hands of: Nahabet Nahabetian, Mihran Sarafian, Diana Dergarabetian, and Sergio Nahabetian.
Each of them contributed their own style, mark, and commitment, ensuring that Sardarabad always maintained the same vocation of service and loyalty to the Armenian Cause.
On our pages, the pulse of the times was reflected. We bore witness to world-shaping events, the advances of science and technology, the birth of the internet, and the digital communication revolution.
But we also gave voice and testimony to the milestones of Armenian history: the years of Vazken I, Supreme Catholicos of All Armenians; the spiritual leadership of Karekin I and Karekin II and their visits to Argentina and South America; the rebirth of the Armenian State; and the free and independent life of our Yerevan, where the tricolor flag waves and our sacred anthem resounds.
From its first edition, Sardarabad engaged with the great Armenian issues:
the defense of the Armenian Cause,
the dissemination of institutional life in the Diaspora,
the visibility of Artsakh,
the support to benefactors, leaders, and professionals,
and the transmission of identity to new generations.
That is why, more than a newspaper, Sardarabad became an active participant in community life.
During these five decades, we honored benefactors, leaders, artists, professionals, clergy, and institutions as Men and Women of the Year.
Among them: Misak Kououmdjian, Mons. Papken Abadian, Haig Emirian, Arsen Guleserian, Paren Bazarian, Dr. Roberto Malkhassian, Lic. Leandro Depuy and the Armenian Inter-Institutional Assembly, Vahe Tchinnosian, Krikor Terzakian, Alex Brahamian and Carlos Seferian, Mariana and Tacvor Sirinian, Yernuhi Ybichian de Sahakian, Armen and Siranush Mezadourian, Eng. Jorge Vartbaronian, Dr. Antranig Arslanian, Boghos Arzoumanian Foundation, Carlos Potikian, Jorge Sarafian, Eduardo Eurnekian, Archbishop Kissag Mouradian, the Armenian Institutions of Argentina, Ambassador Ara Ayvazyan, Dr. Daniel Stamboulian, the Legislative Power of the Republic of Argentina, Kohar, Gomidas Choir, the Armenian Soldier, the People of Artsakh, and Antonio Sarafian.
Each of them left an indelible mark on community life and in our pages.
None of this would have been possible without our readers and advertisers.
You are the ones who gave us meaning, who accompanied us at every stage, who allowed Sardarabad to enter your homes and become part of your daily lives.
To every family, every institution, every young person who found an echo of their identity in our pages, we say thank you!
And thanks as well to advertisers, collaborators, and friends who sustained our work!
Fifty years after its foundation, Sardarabad remains steadfast in its vocation: to be a witness to the history of our people, to unite the Diaspora with Armenia, and to reflect the heartbeat of community life.
The journey continues—with the same strength as in our early days, with the same passion to serve, and with the certainty that in every written line, the commitment to our identity beats strong.
Happy 50th anniversary, Sardarabad!
And thank you, readers, for making it possible!
